 The “Philology and Language Teaching: Japanese Language” program belongs to the field of education and social services. It focuses on the in-depth study of the phonetic, lexical, grammatical, and stylistic features of the Japanese language, the analysis of Japanese literature and culture, the formation of teaching methodology, and the identification of the role and prospects of Japanese as an international language. This program plays an important role in strengthening cultural, economic, and scientific ties between Uzbekistan and Japan. The growing demand for the Japanese language makes this field increasingly relevant.

Program Objective

The main goal of the program is to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the following areas of Japanese language and literature:

Modern Japanese literary language

Linguistic theory

History of the Japanese language

History and theory of Japanese literature

Japanese culture and society

Language teaching methodology

In addition, the program aims to train philologists capable of teaching Japanese, performing translation, and participating in intercultural communication.

Curriculum

Years 1–2: Japanese Language (as a Foreign Eastern Language), Theoretical Linguistics, Literary Studies Theory, Phonetics and Morphology of the Japanese Language, Area Studies, History and Culture of Japan, Western Language and Literature.

Years 3–4: Modern Japanese Literary Language, Japanese Literature and Folklore, Comparative Literary Studies, Literature of the Country of the Studied Language, Presentation Skills in the Target Language, Theory and Practice of Translation, etc.

Graduation Outcome.

A student who successfully completes the 4-year bachelor’s program receives a Bachelor’s Degree in Japanese Language and Literature (Philologist). Graduates may continue their education in the master’s programs in:
