Programme Description

The Master's degree programme 70730103 – History and Theory of Architecture is designed to provide advanced education in the historical development of architecture and urban planning, scientific research on architectural heritage, architectural theory and criticism, architectural composition, as well as the scientific and methodological foundations for the preservation, conservation, and restoration of cultural heritage.

The programme enables students to acquire comprehensive knowledge of the history of architecture in Uzbekistan and worldwide, the evolution of architectural styles, the development of historic cities and architectural ensembles, research methodologies for architectural monuments, contemporary approaches to the identification, evaluation, preservation, conservation, and restoration of historical and cultural heritage, as well as current trends in architectural theory and methodology.

During their studies, students develop professional competencies in scientific research methodology, comprehensive analysis of historical and contemporary architectural objects, working with scientific literature, archival documents, and graphic materials, documentation of architectural heritage, scientific assessment of historical and cultural significance, preparation of research articles, project proposals, and master's dissertations.

Graduates of the programme acquire practical skills in the application of modern information and communication technologies, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), digital archiving, three-dimensional (3D) modelling, photogrammetry, laser scanning, digital documentation of architectural heritage, and advanced methods of scientific analysis.
