Almalyk Branch of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS
Metallurgical Engineering
About the programme
The Metallurgy programme is designed to train specialists in mineral processing, metal production and the management of metallurgical processes.
Students study the physical and chemical foundations of metallurgical processes, materials science, thermal engineering, metallurgical equipment, raw material preparation and processing technologies, product quality control, industrial safety and the environmental aspects of production.
Practical training includes laboratory research, technological calculations, work with industrial equipment, process modelling and the solution of applied engineering problems.
In the future, the programme is expected to develop specialisation in three main areas:
• mineral processing and beneficiation;
• non-ferrous metallurgy;
• ferrous metallurgy.
This specialisation will allow students to study in greater depth the preparation of mineral raw materials, the extraction of valuable components, the production of non-ferrous and ferrous metals, and the improvement of metallurgical processes.
Graduates may work at mineral processing plants, metallurgical enterprises, industrial laboratories, engineering and design organisations, quality control departments and technological process management services.
