About the programme
The Master's Programme in Selection and Seed Production (70810601) belongs to the field of Agriculture and trains highly qualified specialists in breeding new crop varieties and producing high-quality seed.
The programme is oriented toward the efficient use of land, water, energy, and material-technical resources to develop new, high-yielding, disease- and pest-resistant crop varieties and to produce their high-quality seeds. Students develop advanced competencies in the selection (breeding) and seed-production processes of agricultural crops, the intensification and optimization of these processes, raising the yield and quality of crop products, and the application of modern genetic and biotechnological methods. The curriculum also covers variety testing, modern seed-production and nursery technologies, and applied scientific research in the field.
Throughout the programme, students strengthen their research, analytical, and managerial skills and engage in scientific and innovative activity. Graduates are prepared to work in farms and seed-production and breeding enterprises of various forms of ownership, variety-testing organizations, agro-clusters, scientific-research institutes, and state and local agricultural management bodies, as well as to pursue scientific-research and teaching activity in secondary specialized and higher education institutions.
