Nukus branch of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan

Based on Resolution No. 186 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 5, 2021, the Nukus Branch of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan was established. Currently, the branch has 1 faculty, 2 departments, and 4 fields of study. They are classified as follows:

• 60211300 — Conducting: Academic Choir Conducting
• 60211400 — Vocal Art: Academic Singing

Despite its relatively short history, the branch has achieved significant success. Fourth-year student Abbos Yuldoshev was awarded the “Mard Ug‘lon” State Prize by the President of Uzbekistan, while second-year student Alibek Abutov received the “Umid Uchquni” badge awarded by the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

Several students became recipients of prestigious state scholarships named after Ibrahim Yusupov, Tolepbergen Kaipbergenov and Islam Karimov. Faculty members have published eight textbooks, twenty-six teaching manuals and twelve monographs.

Master classes involving distinguished professors of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and foreign specialists have been regularly organized. Among the guests were Leyla Bayramogullari, Associate Professor of Akdeniz University and musician of the Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, pianist M. Zeccini, piano technician T. Bross, and French composer and pianist Joanna Goodale.

In April 2025, renowned French conductor Nathalie Marin visited the branch and held master classes. She also conducted a concert together with the Symphony Orchestra of the branch at the Berdakh State Academic Musical Theatre.

The Symphony Orchestra, led by Associate Professor Polatbay Tnibayev, presented performances of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.1 and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No.5. In May 2025, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s opera Aleko, based on Alexander Pushkin’s poem The Gypsies, was staged.

The branch won first place at the first Republican Festival-Competition of Folk Instrument Orchestras “Jayhun Waves”. At the international competition held in Kazan, the “Jayhun” Folk Instrument Orchestra won first place, while the “Aydin” Ensemble secured second place.

The number of students has increased from 47 at the time of establishment to 245 today. In 2025, the first graduates successfully completed their studies, and ten of them entered master’s programs.

Beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year, the branch started operating in a new building with a capacity of 300 seats, equipped with all necessary facilities for education and creative activities.

The Nukus branch of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan is carrying out targeted work to develop international cooperation and to promote and popularize the branch abroad. To date, our institution has established partnership relations with 9 foreign higher education institutions:

• T. Sattarov Tajik National Conservatory;

• "Alfredo Casella" Conservatory (Italy);
• Wuhan Conservatory of Music (China);
• Gnessin Russian Academy of Music.

In order to strengthen external cooperation, under the leadership of the director of the Nukus branch of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, Professor R. Allanbaev, a number of teachers made official trips to the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, the T. Sattarov Tajik National Conservatory, the "Alfredo Casella" Conservatory in Italy, as well as the Moldabasanov Kyrgyz National Conservatory.

Within the framework of the "ItArts" grant project, a student of our branch took part in events held at the "Alfredo Casella" Conservatory in Italy.

In the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, three students of the branch took part in the "1st Youth Games" (Delphic Games) of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Assistant lecturer of the Department of "General Professional and Socio-Humanitarian Disciplines" Viktoriya Lyubimtseva completed a 160-hour professional development course in "Musicology and Composition" at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory (Republic of Kazakhstan).

Associate professor of the Department of Instrumental Performance, Tnybaev Polatbay Karimbaevich, also completed professional development courses at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory.

On May 10, 2025, an agreement was signed with the Wuhan Conservatory of Music (China), providing for staff exchange, cultural interaction, academic research, exchange of best teaching and learning practices, as well as cooperation in organizing events. In particular, on September 14, 2025, four students of the branch were sent to the Wuhan Conservatory of Music (PRC) under an academic mobility program. Within this international program, the students were able not only to deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge, but also to master advanced foreign experience in the field of musical performance.

In the autumn of 2026, it is planned to send four more students of the branch to study abroad under the academic mobility program.
