“Against Ignorance — Enlightenment”: An Open Dialogue with Youth
At Kokand State University, special attention is paid to enhancing the effectiveness of moral and educational work, particularly to developing the intellectual potential, awareness, and worldview of students, strengthening their ideological immunity, and cultivating a well-rounded generation that lives with a sense of patriotism and loyalty to the homeland.
In the same direction, the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology held an educational and enlightening event under the slogan “Against Ignorance — Enlightenment.” The event, attended by the First Vice-Rector Ahmadjon Xusanov, the faculty leadership, and students, featured Philosophy PhD in Religious Studies Farrukh Kushbayev, who emphasized that today’s rapid globalization is creating conditions for the growing spread of ideological and worldview threats worldwide.
In such a context, attention to spirituality and enlightenment is crucial for maintaining peace and stability. As our President noted: “We consider the work on spirituality and enlightenment to be a matter of patriotism and conscience. A person with conscience and spirituality will surely love the homeland. Conscience and spirituality mean sincerely serving the people and the homeland.”
During the event, participants were informed about the values of Islam in the current fast-paced globalization, its peaceful nature, educating youth in the spirit of religious tolerance and respect for universal values, fostering in them intolerance toward radical interpretations of Islam, and Uzbekistan’s efforts to maintain a balance between religiosity and secularism.
It was also emphasized that, in accordance with the slogan “Against Ignorance — Enlightenment,” Uzbekistan contributes to promoting ideas of peace, tolerance, and enlightenment in Islam, strengthening the fight against radicalism and extremism at national, regional, and global levels, and striving to eradicate these threats entirely.
