The victims of political repression — the painful pages of our history — were commemorated
Today holds special significance as a day to recall the most painful pages of our history and to honor our writers and intellectuals who became victims of political repression. In this regard, the staff of Kokand State University — Rector Dilnoza Khodjayeva, vice-rectors, faculty deans, professors, teachers, and students — visited the “Alley of Writers” in Kokand city. The sculptural monuments dedicated to prominent figures of Uzbek literature such as Amiriy, Nodira, Uvaysiy, Muqimiy, Zavqiy, Furqat, Haziniy, Hamza Hakimzoda Niyoziy, Abdulla Qahhor, Usmon Nosir, Charchiy, and Sobir Abdulla captivate every visitor.
During the event, special attention was given to the life and creative work of Usmon Nosir, as well as his spiritual resilience demonstrated during the years of repression. Professors and teachers shared their reflections on Usmon Nosir’s literary legacy and his contribution to the literature of the national awakening period.
Students recited samples of the famous poet’s works. The verses echoed through the quiet alley, intertwining with the heavy memories of history. These moments carried not only educational but also moral significance.
The participants of the event honored the memory of Usmon Nosir, who was ruthlessly persecuted during the repression years, and emphasized the importance of preserving his priceless legacy, ensuring its transmission to future generations, and safeguarding literary and historical memory.
Today’s visit served not only as an act of remembrance but also as an important step toward learning from the past, valuing spiritual heritage, and inspiring it in the hearts of the younger generation.
