Title: Instrumental Performance (String Instruments)

Description:

The purpose of teaching this subject is to provide students of the String Instruments Performance Department with comprehensive knowledge about the performance apparatus (coordination of the right and left hands), sound production techniques and capabilities, bow strokes/articulation types, musical ornaments, as well as the fundamentals of positions and fingering, and to facilitate their study and mastery. Mastering performance technique, artistic interpretation, and artistry plays a crucial role in enabling students to perfectly convey the essence of composers' works. In the process of mastering this subject, future specialists acquire the knowledge and skills related to teaching methodologies for string instruments.

Over the course of 2 years, you will acquire both theoretical and practical skills in Instrumental Performance (String Instruments).

Under this educational program, you need to earn a total of 120 credits over 4 semesters (2 years).

Breakdown of hours:

• Total classroom hours: 1,800 hours

• Research internship: 480 hours

• Scientific-pedagogical activity: 240 hours

• Preparation of Master's thesis: 1,080 hours

Components of the Educational Process

Notes:

1. 1 credit equals 30 academic hours.

2. When developing a working curriculum based on the main curriculum, higher education institutions may modify the volume of subject blocks up to 5% and individual subjects within blocks up to 10%, provided the weekly workload for students is maintained. Additionally, while preserving total classroom hours, the weekly workload may be adjusted flexibly across individual semesters.

3. The timeframe allocated for completing the Master's thesis includes its formal defense.

4. Practical classes in specialization subjects included in the curriculum may be conducted at the higher education institution or at partner host organizations/enterprises when necessary.

5. To ensure the integration of theory and practice, 240 hours are allocated in the 2nd semester and 240 hours in the 4th semester for the Research Internship (totaling 480 hours).

6. Higher education institutions take into account the requirements of employer organizations when developing curricula for specialized disciplines.

7. Due to the specific nature of arts education institutions, classes for certain subjects are designated as:

   • Individual (1–10 students);

   • Small groups (2–12 students);

   • Standard groups (13–25 students);

   • Combined academic groups (up to 100 students).

8. A total of 50 hours across the 5-week schedule is allocated for supervising the preparation of the Master's thesis (performance program—musical scores along with a brief written descriptive text/annotation).

9. Accompaniment hours for classes are allocated as follows:

   • For "Performance on String Instruments" and "Ensemble Class (String Instruments)" (when an accompanist is required)—allocated at 100% of the total time specified in the curriculum;

   • For "Orchestra and Conducting Class"—allocated at 200%.
