About the university
The Fergana Higher Pedagogical Institute was established pursuant to the Resolution of the Council of People’s Commissars of Uzbekistan dated May 1, 1930.
On March 1, 1991, by a Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Fergana Pedagogical Institute was granted university status and transformed into Fergana State University.
Fergana State University carries out its activities in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Education” No. ORQ-637 of September 23, 2020, the relevant decrees and resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and other regulatory legal acts governing higher education.
Pursuant to Presidential Resolutions No. PQ-60 and No. PQ-61 dated December 24, 2021, Fergana State University was granted academic and financial autonomy.
Fergana State University is the leading higher education institution in Uzbekistan and has been training highly qualified personnel in various fields for more than 90 years.

There are 11 dormitories and 13 educational buildings on the university campus, and more than 27 thousand students get knowledge there.

For international students
All conditions for education, recreation, and living have been created for foreign students. All classes are conducted in English and are taught by certified English language teachers from abroad. On weekends, as well as on holidays, the institute organizes activities related to the entertainment and recreation of students, the university has a dormitory for foreign students, which is equipped with all the necessary equipment for sports, education, as well as a comfortable living.

1. Availability of an Uzbekistan visa.
If you are not a citizen of Uzbekistan, you will need a student visa to attend a full-time course at Fergana State University. Before traveling to Uzbekistan, you must apply for a visa from your home country and allow sufficient time for the visa to be processed. 2. Place of residence.
Bachelor's students are guaranteed a residence in the dormitory. More detailed information about applying to live in a student dormitory can be obtained from the International Cooperation Department of Fergana State University.
3. Getting to know the university.
Adaptation activities for foreign first-year students are carried out simultaneously with the local students. You can talk to advisers from all university services, and also learn about the academic and social life of the university.
4. Arrival to the university from Fergana airport.

5. Adaptation to the lifestyle in Uzbekistan.
Studying in another country is a big change in your life. Remember that this is a transition period. Naturally, it takes time to adapt to life in a different society. Take the opportunity to experience the local culture. Communicating with someone from the same culture will also help you adapt.

International partnerships
Every academic year, as part of the collaboration between the DAAD organization and Fergana State University, German language instructors have been recruited to the university. Currently, Frank Richter is fulfilling the role of a German language teacher for the ongoing academic year.
According to Fergana State University English Language Fellow program, the overseas English language specialists have been recruited annually to teach English language courses to university students. Mary Strabala has been working for this academic year's program.
The university has entered into memorandums and agreements with more than 90 foreign universities. Since 2017, university teachers and students have taken part in educational and other events based on exchange programs in more than 30 foreign universities. In addition, the university has established cooperation with the following international organizations: UNESCO, Erasmus Office in Uzbekistan, SDSN, KOICA, TIKA, British Council.
In cooperation with Paleontology and Paleoanthropology Institute of the Academy of Sciences of People's Republic of China and Loyan Archaeological Research Institute, within the framework of the tripartite cooperation project "Researching archaeologically and museumising Kuva town", the designed microscope for determining the age of archaeological findings, and digitising them in 3D format, and the photographing device were delivered to the scientific center under The World History Department of Fergana state university, as well as "Tan-chan" archaeological reconnaissance equipment, in total 30 million modern equipment worth soums was presented. In 2024, it is planned to import the devices at cost $100,000 based on this project.
In 2023, Fergana State University, in collaboration with several universities in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, successfully secured participation in the ERASMUS+ grant totaling 790,985.00 euros for the TEX4FUTURE project. In 2024, TEX4FUTURE aims to apply the best practices of higher education institutions and enterprises in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, particularly in the light industry sector, which encompasses textiles and garment manufacturing. The project plans to modernize proposed new technologies and establish four textile centers focused to advancing the industry in these two countries. Additionally, the project aims to develop an innovative curriculum by examining new materials and current trends in various fields.
In addition, in 2023, all faculties of the university applied for international grants for 13 projects, and practical support was provided to facilitate their participation in these grants. The results of these projects will be announced in the first and second halves of 2024. Currently, there is rapid progress in applying to new international projects. Moreover, university students are encouraged to explore opportunities for studying abroad for master's and PhD degrees through grant programs.
In 2023, Bahadirjon Shermuhammadov, the Rector of Fergana State University, visited Hungary's MATE University and discussed with the MATE Rector the issues of providing scientific assistance to doctoral students and establishing an exchange education program. It was planned to send students from the joint faculty of agriculture to Hungary for internships and doctoral-level training during the academic year of 2024.

The Faculty of English Language and Literature was established in 2021.
General information about the faculty: 1,763 undergraduate students and 8 graduate students are studying at the faculty in the 2023-2024 academic year. A total of 29 professors-teachers work at the faculty in 2 departments. The faculty's scientific potential is 27.8%. Among them, 1 are professors, 6 are candidates of science, associate professors, 7 are senior teachers, and 14 are teachers. All teachers of the faculty have TESOL and international certificates.

Achievements of the faculty (and its place in Uzbekistan): fundamental reforms in the world education system are necessary for students to learn foreign languages perfectly, to be able to express themselves in all fields knowing a foreign language, to create the necessary conditions for their foreign is promoting the problems of developing oral and written speech in the language. The main goal of the faculty team is to teach students in English and to train specialists who can speak this language freely, to create conditions for young people to use the achievements of world civilization and information resources of the world, to develop international cooperation and communication. Thanks to dedicated and demanding teachers, students are taught the English language perfectly in all aspects, both theoretically and practically.
International cooperation and grants: several international projects were implemented at the faculty with the efforts of our professors and teachers, such as Nargiza Toirova, Dilafruz Ibragimova, Alimardon Toshmatov, Luiza Galimullina, Iqboljon Gaffarov. Fortunately, the cost of these projects is about $60,000. In particular, the Digital English ACCESS Microscholarship Program (ACCESS) project, the "EMI (English as a medium of instruction)" project, as well as the "Drama to" dedicated to the development of dramaturgy education at Fergana State University, which was established within the framework of the small grants project of the US Embassy garagi" in 2022 presented several plays on American literature for students. The members of the drama club are given the opportunity to realize their talent. The Faculty of History was founded in January 1932, and 22 students were educated that year.

The faculty was established in 1970 under the name of Romano-Germanic philology on the basis of the foreign language teaching department of the Fergana State Pedagogical Institute. In 1999, the faculty was merged with the faculty of Russian philology to form foreign philology, and in 2004, it was merged with the faculty of Uzbek philology to form the faculty of philology. Since 2014, the Faculty of Foreign Languages has been reorganized.
Since 1961, the faculty has been training specialists in English language, German language since 1966, French language since 1994, guide accompaniment and translation activities (English language) since 2019. In 1991-1999, specialists were trained in Oriental languages (Arabic, Persian), and in 2008-2013, Oriental languages (Chinese). Since 2014, foreign language and literature (English), foreign language and literature (German, French) and philology and language teaching (English) have been trained since 2016. year. Masters in Linguistics (German language), Linguistics (English language) and Linguistics (French language) have been prepared since 2011.
After the adoption of the decision No. PQ-1875 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 10, 2012 "On measures to further improve the system of learning foreign languages" demand and the need for specialists in the field have increased. As a result, in 2014, the Faculty of Foreign Languages separated from the Faculty of Philology.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, 1443 (day) undergraduate students, 368 (evening) undergraduate students, and 45 graduate students are studying at the faculty.

Fergana State University, Faculty of Foreign Languages, teachers of the Department of English, Artykov Rustam and Dushatova Shohsanam, took part in a 144-hour course "Modern technologies of teaching in higher education and participated in the international training course on "interactive forms and methods".
N. Gafurova (PhD), associate professor of the English language practical course, and S. Azimovalar (PhD), senior teacher of the English philology department, exchanged experience at Haccettepe University in Turkey.
Professors of the Department of English Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Languages D.Ganiyeva (DcS), D.Mirzayeva (PhD) and N.Aliyeva (PhD) are in training courses at Mukhtar Avezov University of South Kazakhstan, located in Shymkent, Republic of Kazakhstan, and they taught the students there in order to exchange experience.
Madaminova Gulsora, professor and teacher of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, gained experience in the "Strengthening Technical and Vocational Education, Training System to meet the Sustainable Development Goals of UN" program in Chennai, India, and participated in advanced training courses.
S. Yusupova, a senior teacher of the Department of English Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, advanced her skills and shared experience at the Japan Foundation Japanese - Language Institute in 2024.
Odilova Durdona, a student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, 4th stage, group 20-124, won the opportunity to study at Georgia College State University in the USA on academic exchange.
Mirzayeva Muazzam, a student of the 4th stage of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, group 20-124, won the opportunity to study at Pavel Jozef Šafarik University of Slovakia within the framework of the National Scholarship Program of the Slovak Republic.
In order to further improve the language skills of students and graduate students, foreign German, French, and English language experts are involved in the educational processes in cooperation with the German Robert Bosch Foundation, SES organization, and the US Embassy.

In 2023-2024, the faculty is conducting international relations together with the embassies of Great Britain, USA, Germany and France. Currently, foreign professors and teachers from the USA, India and Germany are teaching at the faculty.
Shamenaz Bano, professor of English at Rajarshi Tandon Mahila Mahavidyalaya Institute in Allahabad, India, taught the students of the faculty.
Mary Strabala has been teaching English to students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages since September 9, 2022. In addition, Mary Strabala conducts seminars and trainings to improve the skills of English language teachers. Organized "Speaking club" for students. Currently, the student newspaper "Student Voices" is published monthly at the faculty with the support of the US Embassy, on the side of Mery Strabala and 4th year students Anastasia Shikina and Durdona Odilova.

In addition, a university scholarship named after Jorayeva Mohinur Ganijon Abdurahmonov, a student of the department of philology and language teaching (French language) of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, established for university students, and the department of foreign language and literature (German language) student Mustafoyeva Saidakhon became the winner of the university scholarship competition named after Enakhon Siddigova.

576 students of the faculty live in the 9th student residence. All conditions for students have been created in the student accommodation. A monthly fee for living in a student dormitory is 165,000 soums, a 100% discount is provided for the foster children of the Mercy House, children of families living in the iron register, true orphans, disabled people of the 1st and 2nd groups. A 50% discount is given for living in a dormitory for students living in social security registers. 5 initiative rooms, a computer room, and sports rooms have been created in the student dormitories, which will help students organize their free time meaningfully after classes.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 24, 2025, No. PQ-26 “On Measures to Further Improve the Activities of Higher Education Institutions in Fergana Region,” the Fergana branch of UzDJTSU was merged with Fergana State University, and the Faculty of Sports Activities was established on March 1, 2025.
The faculty has one student dormitory with 470 places, two academic buildings, and 2000 students are studying.
Currently, the Faculty of Sports Activities employs 74 professors and lecturers, of whom 20 hold academic degrees and titles, as well as international athletes and candidates for sports mastery.

General information: According to the Order of the Rector of Fergana State University No. 30 dated January 28, 2023 on the organizational structure of the university, “Agrarian Joint Faculty” based on the Faculties of Animal Husbandry and Viticulture, Fruit and Vegetable Growing is established. Achievements in the 2023-2024 academic year: in the current academic year, Sayramov Faizullo, a 3rd-year student of “Medicinal Plant Cultivation and Processing Technology” was awarded a state scholarship named after Islam Karimov; while Javahir Marufjonov, a 3rd-year soil science student received the internal scholarship of the university named ‘Akademik Mirzajonov’.
International cooperation and grants:
- On April 8, 2024, professors of Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences held workshop at the faculty.
- As part of the cooperation agreements, Professor Y. Abakumov of St. Petersburg University organized training sessions for students of the faculty. Also, establishing international grants (scholarship) is being discussed with the experts of the university.
- The professor-teachers of the Department of Soil Science is carrying out a grant project on ‘Growing Jerusalem artichoke in the soils of Fergana region and using it in the field of pharmaceuticals’.
- The professor-teachers of the faculty are continuing the projects, namely ‘Organization of the Beekeeping Coworking Center’ and ‘Organization of the Animal Husbandry Co-working Center’.
Extracurricular activities: The faculty pays a lot of attention to the work being carried out in the social sphere. In particular, several events such as department days, student evenings, various baking competitions, checkers, chess, volleyball competitions, clubs, crafts, dance clubs are held in the faculty. Achievements in the 2023-2024 academic year:
3 students of the faculty won the scholarship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 14 hold the state scholarship named after Navoi, and 3 won the internal university scholarship. Moreover, 10 students of the faculty won Republican Science Olympiads, while 10 students won International Science Olympiads.
The professors and teachers of the faculty participated in scientific conferences held in foreign higher educational institutions, and advanced their skills in foreign countries such as Kazakhstan and Russia. The professors and teachers of the faculty conducted classes in the TOP 1000 foreign higher education institutions of the world.
44 textbooks, 65 training manuals, more than 80 methodological manuals and 20 monographs have been published by faculty professors. The scientific council of Fergana State University under the number PhD.03/30.11.2021.Ped.05.07 and the scientific seminar under the scientific council are currently operating at the faculty.
International cooperation and grants: International relations have been established with prestigious HEIs of Turkey, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, India, and Russia. International relations have been established with Ural Federal University named after B. Yeltsin; Ural State Pedagogical University, National Research Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky, Tomsk State University; Osh State University, Kyrgyzstan - Manas University of Turkey, Puchon University of Korea, Kazakh National University named after Abay, National Eurasian University named after Gumilyov, Kazakhstan State University named after Mukhtar Avezov, Khojand State University, Kazan Federal University, and Saratov National Research University named after Cherneshevsky.
The faculty has recently completed projects, namely “Preparation of educators for pedagogical activity”, “Management of human psychology in emergency situations”, and “Methods of neurolinguistic programming in the formation of immunity against harmful ideological influences and reactionary currents alien to the national mentality in young people”. The “Psychological service” and “Continuing education” centers are operating under the faculty.
SDGs: In order to ensure gender equality in education, doctoral theses are defended by women in connection with issues related to sustainable development defined by the UN, and the faculty established relations with the Association of Women Scientists.

General information: The Faculty of Life Sciences was established in 1930. Currently, 1409 undergraduate students and 74 graduate students are studying at the faculty. There are a total of 88 academic faculty members. Of these, 4 are professors, 50 are associate professors, 10 are senior teachers, and 24 are teachers. The scientific potential of the faculty is 60%. About 10 prestigious academic schools have been formed within the faculty. Achievements in the 2023-2024 academic year: 9 PhD and DSc dissertations were successfully defended at the faculty. Also, 1 student won the state scholarship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and 1 student won the state scholarship named after Mirzo Ulugbek.
International cooperation: Faculty cooperates with the world’s TOP 1000 universities, such as Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, Kazan Federal University of the Russian Federation. Cooperation also extends to other leading regional universities, such as Tomsk State University, Altai State University, Osh State University of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jalal-Abad has
SDGs: Activities carried out at the faculty address quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, combating climate change, protecting aquatic ecosystems, and protecting terrestrial ecosystems of the Sustainable Development Goals agenda. In this regard, professors and students also participate in various republican and international seminars and conferences. Moreover, every semester, faculty provides monetary incentives of 10 to 50% of the stipend to those students who comply with the university’s internal procedures and the code of conduct.

Achievements of the faculty (and its place in Uzbekistan): high-potential professors and teachers of the faculty have achieved various achievements at the national level. Gafurov Ahmadali is a well-known economist, public education worker, educationalist, winner of the Kori Niazi medal, 1991. "Outstanding Public Education Officer of the Republic of Uzbekistan", participant of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), 1946. "Fame" medal, 1960. Medal of the 30th anniversary of the Victory, 1970. Medal of the 40th anniversary of the Victory, 2020. "Elderly" was awarded with a badge.
4 students of the faculty won the state scholarship named after Navoi, 1 won the internal university scholarship. The professors and teachers of the faculty participated in scientific conferences held in foreign higher educational institutions, and advanced their skills in foreign countries such as Kazakhstan and Russia. International relations have been established with prestigious HEIs of Turkey, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, India, and Russia. The professors and teachers of the faculty conducted classes in the top 1000 foreign higher education institutions of the world. More than 30 textbooks, more than 60 educational and methodological manuals, and more than 80 monographs have been published by faculty professors. A cooperation agreement on the academic mobility of students was signed with the Kyrgyz Osh State University.
Student dormitory conditions: 117 students of the faculty are accommodated in the 7th student dormitory of the university. The dormitory has 240 beds for students, the dormitory needs renovation, there are not enough opportunities for foreign students.
Work carried out in the social sphere and sustainable development: the faculty is cooperating with economic spheres: cooperation is being conducted with banks, enterprises, insurance organizations.

The Department of Physical Education at the Fergana Pedagogical Institute was opened in 1954, at first it operated under the faculty of mathematics and physics, then within the faculty of chemistry and biology.
In 1958, the Department of "Physical Education" was separated from the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology and given the status of a faculty.

International scientific-practical conferences dedicated to the study of the work and literary heritage of the Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aytmatov, Kazakh poet I. Yusupov, and the activities of the moderns were held.
Education is provided on the basis of the "3+1" joint program in cooperation with Kazan Federal University. Also, innovation centers operate under the departments of the faculty: "Linguistic analysis and translation studies" under the department of linguistics, "Artistic analysis, scientific editing and translation" under the department of literary studies, "Proflingva" under the department of Russian philology, "Russian language o "teaching and translation studies".
Faculty professors have published 35 textbooks, more than 80 educational and methodological manuals, and more than 100 monographs. Scientific seminars at the faculty under the scientific council of the Fergana State University DSs.03/30.12.2019.Phil.05.02 and Scientific seminars under the Scientific Council: 10.00.01 - Uzbek language, 10.00.11 - Language theory. Applied and computer linguistics, 10.00.02 - Uzbek literature, 10.00.06 - Comparative literature studies, cross-linguistics and translation studies are working. To date, 182 defenses have been held at this Scientific Council.
International cooperation and grants at the faculty: National University of Tajikistan, Khojand State University (Tajikistan), Tajikistan State University of Law, Business and Politics (Tajikistan), Hoji Bayram Vali University (Turkey), Artvin Choruh University (Turkey), Karabuk University (Turkey) ), Nizami Ganjavi Literary Institute (Azerbaijan), Çanakkale Eighteenth March University (Turkey), Ankara University (Turkey), Mukhtar Avezov Kazakhstan State University (Kazakhstan), Gumilyov Eurasian University (Kazakhstan) , established international relations with Kazan Federal University (Russian Federation).
The project "National Neuropsycholinguistic Diagnosis Methodology" has been financed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation in the amount of 92757000 soums since June 1, 2023. Within the framework of this project, cooperation with the Moscow Higher School of Economics has been established.
The "TRKI" project is being implemented in cooperation with St. Petersburg State University, and 45,000,000 soums have been invested within the project.
410 students of the faculty are accommodated in the 2nd, 6th, 10th student residences of the university. All comfortable conditions have been created in the student accommodation. In particular, five initiative rooms, a computer class, a library, and household service rooms have been established. Students with disabilities and orphans have preferential access to student housing for free. Also, the university has created benefits for foreign students.
Work carried out at the faculty in the social sphere and sustainable development: in order to ensure gender equality in education, doctoral theses were defended by women in the faculty on the issues related to sustainable development defined by the UN, and the university was attached to the association of women scientists. Faculty professors Sh. Iskandarova, E. Ibragimova, Z. Sobirova, Z. Akbarova, A. Rasulova were awarded by our government.
Z.Akbarova, Associate Professor of the Department of Linguistics, is conducting scientific research within the framework of the "National Neuropsycholinguistic Diagnosis Methodology" project.
Sh. Iskandarova, G. Muhammadjonova, G. Oripova are participating in the international scientific and practical conferences held in cooperation with the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. who participated with their lectures.
