On 4 May 2026, the State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with Jawaharlal Nehru University (Republic of India), Zh. Tashenev University (Republic of Kazakhstan), and Andijan State Pedagogical Institute, hosted the international scientific seminar entitled “Priority Directions for the Development of Culture and Art in New Uzbekistan: Scientific and Practical Research.” The event served as an effective platform for discussing pressing issues facing the field, expanding academic cooperation, and promoting the exchange of international experience. The seminar was opened with a welcoming address by Professor Sh. M. Tokhtasimov, Rector of the State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan. In his speech, he highlighted the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country in the sphere of culture and the arts, placing particular emphasis on the development of choreographic art and the promotion of the national cultural heritage through contemporary approaches. In his presentation, Professor Ahmad Akhlaq Ahan, Head of the Centre for Persian and Central Asian Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, provided a scholarly analysis of the personality of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, portraying him not only as an outstanding statesman and poet, but also as a refined connoisseur of the arts. He noted that Babur’s legacy serves as an important bridge between the cultural civilizations of the East and the West. Professor Mustafa Korkmaz of Nigde Ömer Halisdemir University (Republic of Türkiye), who participated online, presented a comparative analysis of the historical roots and developmental trends of Turkish and Uzbek dance art. The seminar also featured presentations by B. Sirojiddinov, Vice-Rector of Andijan State Pedagogical Institute; Professor Manara Eldiep of Alexandria University; Associate Professor S. Gʻaniyev of Zh. Tashenev University; Professor G. Matyoqubova of the Urgench Branch of the State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan; Associate Professor M. Qosimova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, of Andijan State Pedagogical Institute; Associate Professor A. Rajabiy of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan; doctoral students of Andijan State Pedagogical Institute; and master’s students of the Academy. A special artistic atmosphere was created by A. Rajabiy’s performance of the song “Qaro Ko’zim”, accompanied by the tanbur. The international scientific seminar received extensive media coverage from journalists representing the National News Agency of Uzbekistan and the “Oʻzbekiston” television channel of the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan.
