About the programme
The Department of “Building Materials and Chemistry” of the Tashkent University of Architecture and Construction was founded in 1972. Initially, the department consisted of 7 professors and teachers, 4 candidates of technical sciences worked. Assoc. Prof. Qosimov E.U. was appointed as the head of the department. Assoc. Prof. Khasanova M.Q., Assoc. Prof. Mahkamov S.M., Prof. Samigov N.A., Assoc. Prof. Tolipova N.Z., Prof. Sattorov Z.M., Assoc. Prof. Majidov S.R. worked as heads of the Department of “Building Materials and Chemistry”. Currently, the head of the Department of “Construction and Environmental Engineering” is Prof. S.I. Akhmedov. In the 2024-2025 academic year, 4 professors, 8 candidates of sciences, 6 senior teachers and 1 assistant are working in the department of “Civil and Environmental Engineering” (scientific potential is 63.1%). The department of “Civil and Environmental Engineering” currently has 4 undergraduate and 2 graduate specialties.
Over the past period, the professors and teachers of the department of “Civil and Environmental Engineering” have published 9 textbooks, 17 textbooks, 13 scientific monographs, 5 patents for inventions, 2 certificates for utility models, 27 teaching and methodological manuals.

The main scientific topics of the department:
Creation and research of composite building materials based on mineral and polymer binders;
Study of the properties of nano- and microstructures of composite building materials;
Technology for improving and applying the properties of mobile sands with modified binders based on local raw materials;
Study of the physicochemical, structure-forming and rheological properties of sand-hardening reagents obtained from waste;
Creation of a technology for the production of high-strength and corrosion-resistant concrete with the addition of a modified superplasticizer, which replaces imports, created on the basis of secondary raw materials
