About the programme

This master’s program is an advanced academic pathway aimed at training director-pedagogues with modern stage thinking and deep knowledge of dramaturgy and stage technologies, based on both Uzbek and international theatrical traditions. It prepares independent-minded directors for creative, scientific, and pedagogical activity.

During the program, graduate students:

  • Study the laws of puppet theatre staging, its technologies, and dramatic structures;

  • Develop skills to create independent performance concepts, plan character systems, and collaborate fully with actors and creative-technical teams;

  • Acquire experience in research, teaching, and directing.

Upon completion, graduates will:

  • Master stage arts;

  • Be ready for scientific inquiry;

  • Work in theatres, higher education institutions, and creative laboratories;

  • Participate in national and international projects as creative, independent, and pedagogically capable professionals.

Total workload:

  • Classroom study — 900 hours

  • Independent study — 900 hours

  • Research and master's thesis — 1080 hours

  • Scientific-pedagogical work — 420 hours

  • Research internship — 300 hours

Curriculum structure:

  • Theory and research activity — 45 weeks (semesters 1–3)

  • Internship — 5 weeks (semester 4)

  • Research and thesis — 13 weeks (semesters 1–4)

  • Assessments — 16 weeks (semesters 1–4)

  • Introduction to credit system — 3 weeks (semesters 1 and 3)

  • Holidays — 18 weeks

  • Total — 100 weeks

Notes:

  • 1 credit equals 30 academic hours

  • Coursework earns credit through independent study (30 hours = 1 credit)

  • Final state assessment includes master's thesis defense

  • Internships are held in HEIs, research institutions, and partner organizations
