About the university
Based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on February 28, 1992 'On the Establishment of New Higher Educational Institutions', the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 125 of March 11, 1992, and the Order of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 171 of March 20, 1992, Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State medical institute was established. On September 2, 1992, Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was opened.
According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 31, 1995 and the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic dated June 3, 1995, the branch was added to the Urgench State University. A Medical Center was established at UrSU.
Based on the decision of the Government of the Republic No. 239 dated June 3, 1998, the Medical Center of UrSU was again transformed into an independent educational center. That is, the Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was established.
Based on the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 19, 2005 'On the establishment of Tashkent Medical Academy' No. PD-3629 and the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 178 dated July 29, 2005, in order to improve the organization of training of highly qualified medical personnel and increase its quality Tashkent Medical Academy was established on the basis of the first and second Tashkent State Medical Institutes. Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was renamed Urgench branch of Tashkent Medical Academy.
According to Presidential Resolution No. PD–149 dated April 22, 2025, “On Measures to Fundamentally Improve the System of Training Personnel in the Medical Field,” the Urgench Branch of the Tashkent Medical Academy was reorganized into the Urgench State Medical Institute. This resolution defined tasks aimed at training highly qualified medical specialists with higher education, improving the quality and coverage of medical services provided to the population, strengthening the integration of medical practice with education and science, and introducing advanced innovations into treatment and diagnostic processes.

International activities of the Urgench State Medical Institute.
International activities at the Urgench State Medical Institute are developing consistently and steadily. Today, the institute has established strong cooperative relations with more than 60 leading higher educational institutions and medical organizations from more than 10 foreign countries, including the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Germany, Italy, Israel, South Korea, Turkey, India, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Within the framework of this cooperation, more than 80 professors and teachers of the institute annually improve their qualifications and undergo internships at foreign universities and clinics, and actively participate in prestigious international scientific and practical conferences. This process serves to increase the potential of professors and teachers, study best practices and introduce modern innovative approaches to the educational process.
At the same time, more than 50 professors and teachers from prestigious foreign higher educational institutions and specialists in the field are attracted to the institute every year, conducting lectures, master classes and practical seminars for students based on modern pedagogical technologies. This cooperation clearly demonstrates that the quality and content of education at the institute is organized in accordance with international standards.
The institute successfully implements joint educational programs with a number of leading foreign higher educational institutions. In particular, joint educational programs have been organized with Privolzhsky Research Medical University in the 3+3 format in the bachelor's degree "Medical Work", "Pharmacy" and "Dentistry" in the 3+2 format; with Kazan Federal University in the "Medical Biology" in the 3+3 format; and with Xinjiang Medical University in the "Folk Medicine" in the 3+2 format. These programs allow students to obtain double degrees, gain international experience, and expand their professional competencies.
Every year, more than 50 students of the institute undergo summer internships in partner clinics in countries such as Turkey, Russia, and China, strengthening their theoretical knowledge with practical skills. This contributes to the formation of young specialists as competitive personnel in the international arena.
Currently, more than 1,200 foreign students from Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Arab Republic of Egypt are studying at the institute. All necessary conditions have been created for foreign students at the institute: modern classrooms, high-tech laboratories, an IT-Park operating 24/7, computer rooms, winter and summer sports complexes, as well as a kitchen where national Indian and Pakistani dishes are prepared. The student dormitory is equipped to meet modern requirements, and all amenities are created for students to live and spend productive leisure time.
The International Cooperation Department of the Institute systematically coordinates international activities, develops relations with foreign partners, and formalizes visa and temporary registration procedures for foreign students in accordance with the established procedure.
Urgench State Medical Institute continues to make consistent efforts to further expand international cooperation, deepen the integration of education and science, and strengthen its worthy place in the world medical education space. By expanding international activities, the Institute has set itself the priority of training modern, competitive and highly qualified medical personnel.
Opportunities for students
Today, students of the branch take high places in various competitions, sports competitions, intellectual and international scientific Olympiads held among higher educational institutions. Including 3 students have got scholarship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 6 students received a State Scholarship named after Islam Karimov, 11 students received the State scholarship named after Ibn Sina, 7 students received scholarship established by the Association of Doctors of Uzbekistan for students of medical universities and 3 students became recipients of the Zulfiya Scholarship.

In 1993, the Faculty of Pediatrics was established at the Urganch branch of the Tashkent Medical Academy. Currently, the faculty has 7 departments, which are located in the main educational building of the branch and in hospitals in the city of Urgench.

Today, more than 800 students are studying at the faculty in the fields of Pediatrics, Higher Nursing, Vocational Education, and Folk Medicine. Every year, more than 90 young pediatricians, about 30 senior nurses graduate and contribute to the development of our country, at least 3 of them have an honors diploma.
Today, 824 students are studying at the faculty in 4 fields of study.

DEPARTMENTS OF THE MEDICAL PREVENTION, HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
I.Faculty history
Decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PD-2909 of April 20, 2017 on "Measures for further development of the higher education system" and No. PD-4790 of July 27, 2020 "Republic of Uzbekistan "Faculty of medical prevention, health care management and foreign students" was founded on the basis of the decisions on "sanitary-epidemiological peace and public health service organization measures".
The faculty of medical prevention, health care management and foreign students was established in September 2020. Currently, 15 employees are working in the dean's office, and the total number of students exceeds 1678, including 1160 foreign students (Turkmenistan 196, Kyrgyzstan 31 people, India 640 people, Pakistan 280 people, Russia 11 people, Afghanistan 1 person, Egypt 1 person). In the academic year 2023-2024, the quota of local students was established at 170 Uzbek and Russian languages of education, and the number of students to be recruited from abroad is about 235.
At the same time, 7 departments are attached to the faculty, and the educational-methodological, scientific, spiritual-educational activities of the departments are controlled by the dean's office. The scientific potential of the departments is high, and the working professors are professional pedagogues and experienced experts. In the 2021-2022 academic year, 56 students became the first graduates of the branch "Medical preventive work".

III. Spiritual and educational work of the faculty
The number of talented and excellent students at the faculty is increasing year by year, and their results are announced on the official channels and pages of the branch. Not only our republic, but also foreign countries participated in science Olympiads and became the owners of proud places. In particular, in the 2021-2022 academic year, Yusupov Bilal, a graduate of the "Medical preventive work" department, was the recipient of the state scholarship named after "Islam Karimov" and Sajid Muhammad Arsalan Ali (State of Pakistan
citizen) won the proud 1st place at the 17th International Scientific Pirogov Conference of Young Scientists and Students. Also, in the 2023-2024 academic year, the faculty organized various events and competitions for local and foreign students.
In order to familiarize foreign students with our history and places of interest, they visited the Urganch photo gallery and the Jaloliddin Manguberdi memorial complex.

The students got acquainted with about a thousand rare examples of visual arts, graphics and sculpture in the gallery, and in the Jaloliddin Manguberdi complex, they got acquainted with the copy of the epitaph left by him, Manguberdi's family, his life and activities, and got many impressions.
A trip to the regional information-library center named after Mahmud Zamakhshari was organized for foreign students.

The students got acquainted with the activities of the center's services and sectors, the library fund, electronic resources, and the exhibits of the museum of local history organized here.
"The establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan
32nd anniversary" and in order to educate young people in the spirit of patriotism, to further expand their knowledge and worldview, and to increase the feeling of love for the motherland, in the military unit No. 53008 located in the city of Urganch, "Army with the people is one body, one soul!" An open day was held under the slogan.
30 students from the "Medical prevention, SSB and foreign students" faculty of TMA Urganch branch took part in it. During the event, an exhibition of special equipment and elements of formation were shown with the participation of the military. Such events, organized by the military unit, undoubtedly make the participants proud of our national army.
For the first time, the intellectual game "Zakovat" was held among foreign youth at the Urganch branch of TMA.
On January 11 of this year, the faculty of "Medical prevention, SSB and foreign students" organized the intellectual game "Zakovat" with the participation of foreign students. First, I.S. Yusupov, the deputy director of the branch for spiritual and educational affairs, spoke and wished luck and victories to the students.
In this intellectual game, which was full of heated debates between 4 teams, the winning teams were determined and souvenirs were awarded.
Such games, which are held in order to increase the scientific potential of students and organize their free time in a meaningful way, deserve special recognition.
IV. Methodological studies of the faculty
The dean of the faculty and the deputy deans responsible for educational affairs are responsible for educational and methodological affairs in the branch, the movement of students in accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 393 of 20.06.2017, the orders of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, are carried out based on their approved regulations, orders, evaluation regulations. Starting from the 2021-2022 academic year in the state higher education institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the branch, approved by the order of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 236 dated September 8, 2020 "Higher education in medicine and pharmaceuticals" According to the Regulation on the introduction of the credit-module education system in lim institutions, education in all areas was transferred to the credit-module education system.
In particular, in connection with the transition to the digitization process in the branch, faculty, by the order of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, a step-by-step transition to the HEMIS (Higher Education Management Information Systems) information system and the organization of educational and methodological work , has been established. Taking into account that the main part of the faculty consists of foreign students, the staff of the dean's office conducts educational and methodological work, spiritual and educational work with foreign students in Russian and English. A number of academic mobility students at the faculty studied at other HEMIS for the specified periods. Starting from the 2021-2022 academic year, the first graduates (56 people) of the "Medical preventive work" (5510300) educational field were awarded the "Physician epidemiologist-hygienist" bachelor's degree diplomas and from this academic year "M.B.B.S.", newly introduced in the branch - The first (9) graduates of the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery were awarded bachelor's diplomas.
